Dear Christmas Diary,
At the Church today, the priest talked about the meaning of Christmas and the advent season. He said that advent means waiting for Christ’s coming and that we should always be ready for it. It is one of the many seasons in Church such as lent and Easter and it is symbolized by four candles in a holder which are lighted every Sunday after Christ the King celebration. The fourth candle is lighted on Christmas day.
Well, every day before the midnight mass begin a film about the role of family in maintaining a God-loving community is shown. They explained that the film is in preparation for a crusade that the Pope ordered to start in January, 2000. This crusade aims to bring the Church at home.
Anyway, I like the homily of our parish priest today who always seems eager to inspire people.
Today, he talked about salvation which he said comes from the word “solus” which means “to heal.” So he said that Christmas is all about salvation because it invites us to reflect on our lives and heal the mistakes, the sins, the wounds. It is a chance to be clean again and to be free of the chains that bind our soul. I don’t know why but the way the priest delivered his homily made me want to cry. Maybe because he sounds so sincere and kind.
